Are We Headed For Anarchy?

Are We Headed For Jericho?

By Chuck Baldwin

The Covenant News

March 28, 2008

A friend recently turned me on to the CBS television series, Jericho. I watch so little network television that I confess to never having seen the show before this week. Obviously, then, I am quite uninformed as to the overall plot and previous episodes. What I saw Tuesday evening, however, stunned me. Why? Because it very aptly depicted what could become a very real-life scenario for these United States in the not-so-distant future.

If I accurately picked up the basic plot of the show, average, freedom-loving citizens in the Western U.S. are fighting against tyrannical elements of their own government, including military forces. The State of Texas has declared its independence from the corrupt new government and another civil war is breaking out in America. And all this was predicated upon a nuclear attack, which some believed was an inside job. Am I close?

Contributing further to my amazement was the way Jericho used real-life political events to depict America's fall into tyranny. I was flabbergasted to see the characters of Jericho refer to the Continuity of Government act as the foundation for the government's declaration of martial law after the nuclear attack had occurred.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Continuity of Government (COG) act is not television make-believe: it is the real deal.

To read up on COG, go to Wikipedia's entry by clicking here.

In addition, I have reported the potential problems associated with COG in this column.

Here is a quote from the Wikipedia entry:

"The George W. Bush administration put the Continuity of Operations plan into effect for the first time directly following the September 11, 2001 attacks. Their implementation involves a rotating staff of 75 to 150 senior officials and other government workers from every Cabinet department and other parts of the executive branch in two secure bunkers on the East Coast . . .

"The Bush Administration officially admitted the implementation of the plan on March 1, 2002. Key congressional leaders say they didn't know this government-in-waiting had been established.

"On July 18, 2007 Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., a member of the U. S. House Committee on Homeland Security, was denied access to the classified version of the continuity of government plan. Though members can access classified information, this is the first time documents have been denied."
As I wrote on January 12, 2007, "In a nutshell, proponents of COG envision a terrorist attack that would precipitate the suspension of the U.S. Constitution. Specifically, COG would authorize Congress to appoint its own members, including those in state legislatures, without a vote of the people. COG even envisions the enactment of such authority for reasons of 'incapacitation' (whatever that is) even if no emergency exists."

Noted author, Dr. Jerome Corsi, wrote this of Bush's enactment of COG, "Translated into layman's terms, when the president determines a national emergency has occurred, the president can declare to the office of the presidency powers usually assumed by dictators to direct any and all government and business activities until the emergency is declared over."

Contrary to the ranting of politicians and media talking heads about how great things are going in these United States, millions of Americans are becoming increasingly aware of the total corruption, crookedness, and chicanery of government officials. They have had it with being lied to, cheated, and beaten down with thousands of rules, regulations, and laws, which serve only to empower the political and business elite. They do not trust any of their politicians to tell them the truth. Their money and jobs are disappearing; their children are being brainwashed in government schools; their homes and property are being taxed out of existence; and even their country's very sovereignty is being forfeited to foreign interests. I believe the level of frustration and anger is rising to the point that a Jericho scenario could very easily occur.

I personally believe there are only three reasons why we are not already living the Jericho experience. One, people have been quite comfortable in their own personal lifestyles. They have enjoyed comfortable homes, nice automobiles, fine clothes, and pleasure-filled vacations. Who in their right mind wants to give up the tranquility of hearth and home? Two, most of America still rests upon a Christian foundation. As such, Americans believe in peace and harmony. They believe in law and order. They believe in submitting to authority. Three, there has not been an overt, large-scale attempt by government to confiscate the firearms of the American people. Remember, it was the Crown's attempted gun confiscation at Concord that ignited the American Revolution back in 1775. [emphasis added]

However, the materialistic comfort of the average American is quickly fading away. People are losing their jobs, their livelihoods, their homes, and their savings. More than that, they are losing hope for a better tomorrow, and they are losing confidence in their government to honestly protect their freedoms--even their national identity.

Plus, most Christians know that there is such a thing as lawful rebellion. Even Christ's early disciples said no to various governments during extreme situations. And for us Americans, freedom and liberty runs deep in our veins. Many of us have not buried our Don't Tread On Me banners. We share the sentiment of Benjamin Franklin who said, "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God."

Furthermore, Hurricane Katrina put the American people on notice that their government is more than willing to confiscate their firearms. Plus, the forthcoming Supreme Court ruling regarding the right to keep and bear arms is likely to authorize even tighter government regulation on this fundamental right. Even more disconcerting are the reports we are hearing from soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan telling us that they are being told to prepare for orders to turn their weapons on the American people, should the President declare martial law. (I have had more than one Iraq War veteran tell me this.)

I am afraid that the CBS television series Jericho is more than fantasy: it could be a prediction of the future. As Thomas Jefferson said, "I tremble for my country."

I watched one episode of "Jericho" online at the CBS website. Even though the plot was story-boarded as a cross between "Red Dawn" - remember the young Patrick Swayze? - and a Steven Segal dud, I believe we will have to rise up and fight the government which is busily eroding our rights, though it will likely not be so clear-cut who the villains are. Even so, we will have to stand and fight for our freedom. Be prepared. Educate yourself. Get ready.

If you had to make a stand and fight tomorrow, do you know who would stand beside you and fight? Honestly, I don't know myself. It may be that we will only know as the troops descend upon us. Remember Katrina.

Knee-jerk Weeping "Lawmakers" Sicken Me

A 77-year-old woman, an Illinois state representative, referred to as "a lawmaker", was the recent victim of a push-in robbery, at gunpoint. Her response is typical for "lawmakers" today...more social programs, jobs, and oh yeah, a mental health support system for our "youth". Right. Like we don't already have an intrusive, bloated mental health support system, and give-away money programs. This is a problem for families, and a knee-jerk Nanny State response to make our problems go away is simply governmental tyranny, all trussed-up in victimization robes.

77-year-old Ill. lawmaker robbed of $7 at gunpoint at home

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - A 77-year-old Illinois state representative is happy to be alive after a man with a gun pushed his way into her home and robbed her of $7.

Wyvetter H. Younge was not injured in the robbery that occurred around noon Friday.

Younge said she thought her son had knocked on her door and opened it, but instead found an armed man. He told her to get on her hands and knees, then grabbed her purse and ran.

Younge, a Democrat, said she didn't recognize the man, who wore a red hat and red jacket and dark pants. She said she's going to pray for him.

"This robbery and what's happening to this community is the result of a lack of a supportive system for our youth. We need jobs," she said. "This happened in broad daylight at noon. We need a mental health support system. This is further evidence of that."

Illinois State Police are investigating.
But since the concept of family, consisting of a father and mother with children, is being systematically destroyed by our "lawmakers", our right to defend ourselves against "youths" who couldn't care less about the law, shouldn't be legislated-away by weeping liberals, both in Congress, and on the bench.

A handgun is a powerful deterrent to criminal activity.

Graph from John Lott's More Guns Less Crime

Despite all the arguments for gun control, it really comes down to this: "lawmakers" want to take away our right to defend ourselves, our families, our schools. This must not be allowed to happen.

I'll take one of these:

over one of these:

That way, if the police ever have to do one of these at my house,

it will be the perp's outline, not mine.

Geert Wilders Waves Red Flag at Islamists

Geert wilders's film, Fitna was up and down in less than 24 hours at YouTube; same at LiveLeak. The film was pulled because of PC censorship. I don't think anyone believed it would stay up at those sites.

It was courageous of Mr. Wilders to produce and post the film, thereby painting a huge "assassinate me!" sign on his back. However, the film falls way short of delivering a rally cry against Islam. We are innurred to the graphic images portrayed in the film, and we already know what the Koran says about the Jews and Christians. To borrow a phrase from Bob Dylan:

"Say okay, I have had enough
What else can you show me?".

Here is Mr. Wilders being interviewed on Fox News, in which he explains his views in the religion of Islam, and his reasons for making the movie, in spite of the antagonistic interviewer. For me it does put the movie into perspective. I suppose I was hoping for an inflammatory movie, one which would incite people to rise up against the Islamists. Ah, well...

In any case, FYI, The Jawa Report pulled Fitna off LiveLeak, and has it posted today on their site.

Liveleak Caves to Threats of Violence Over "Fitna"

Never fear, we have our very own copy of Fitna for your viewing pleasure below. The genie is out of the bottle and can never be put back in. Spread the word!

Video follows this message of explanation just posted at Liveleak:

"Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.

This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one. Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture.

We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high."

Thanks to BP Monaco.

Here's the vid.

**The film, Fitna, can also be viewed at the United American Committee (UAC).**

Meanwhile, back in Kosovo...

We must begin to understand, and understand it well, that the Leftist Ideologists will do anything, even pull our Western Culture and values down around their own heads, to destroy us. The rise of Islam has been fostered by the Leftist factions in our political structure and our media, simply because it furthers their own agenda of global dominance of the human race. To understand why we are entering a new dark age, just follow the money.

Abolish the Federal Reserve

The power to coin money must be taken from the Federal Reserve, if we are to survive as a nation.

The criminalization of parents

By Stephen Baskerville

Posted: March 15, 2008

The California appeals court decision criminalizing parents who homeschool their children is only the tip of an iceberg. Nationwide, parents are already being criminalized in huge numbers, and it is not limited to homeschoolers.

During the Clinton years, the trend toward turning children into tools for expanding government power increased rapidly. Otherwise indefensible programs and regulations are now rationalized as "for the children."

As a result, government now has so many ways to incarcerate parents that hardly a family in America has not been touched. The criminalization of parents is highly bureaucratic, effected through a bureaucratic judiciary and supported by a vast "social services" machinery that few understand until it strikes them.

They then find themselves against a faceless government behemoth from which they are powerless to protect their children or defend themselves.

Homeschoolers are usually accused of "educational neglect," a form of child abuse. Like other child abuse accusations, it does not usually involve a formal charge, uniformed police, or a jury trial. Instead the accusations are leveled by social workers, whose subjective judgment is minimally restrained by due-process protections. As Susan Orr, head of the federal Children's Bureau points out, these social workers are in effect plainclothes police – but they are not trained or restricted like regular police.

Homeschoolers are not alone. Any parents can be charged with "child abuse" on the flimsiest of pretexts, because child abuse has no definition. Because of our presumption of innocence, crimes are generally defined as they are adjudicated: A crime has been committed if a jury convicts. But the roughly 1 million cases of child abuse annually (out of 3 million accusations) are "confirmed" or "substantiated" not by jury trials but by social workers or (sometimes) judges.

Most such parents are not imprisoned. They merely lose their children.

Virtually every American can now tell of a relative or friend visited by the feared Child Protective Services because of a playground injury or a routine bruise.

Too many dismiss these frightening ordeals as aberrations. In fact, they proceed from a bureaucratic logic that is driven by federal funding. The more "abuse" the social workers find, the more money they get to combat it.

Liberal-Progressive Mind Control

By Thomas E. Brewton

Socialism, of which liberal-progressivism is the American sect, is more than control of the economy. Most importantly it is mind-control through the public education system.

The Washington Times reports the latest liberal-progressive-socialist curtailment of personal freedom.

“California courts have held that under provisions in the Education Code, parents do not have a constitutional right to educate their children in their own home,” said the Feb. 28 ruling by the California Appellate Court for the second district.

When they wish to overrule long-standing political liberties, liberals look to precedents of so-called international law and other nations’ customs. The socialist European Union, and Germany specifically, provide ammunition for abrogating educational liberties.

Why the animus of liberal courts and teachers’ unions against home schooling?

The obvious answer is that home schooling does a better job, revealing the poor quality of public education. Less obvious is the desire of home-schooling parents to teach Judeo-Christian moral principles, which directly conflicts with the public school aim of teaching the secular religion of liberal-progressive-socialism. Propagating that mind-set necessitates identifying as ignorance all ideas of fixed and timeless moral principles.

Such was the work primarily of John Dewey, the leading liberal-progressive theoretician of the early 1900s. He taught Columbia University students that Darwinian evolution had proved that everything, including morality, was continually evolving. In such a world there can be no timeless principles of morality. Rules for social behavior are simply whatever intellectuals think they ought to be in matters of sexual orientation, sexual promiscuity, and every sort of sensual gratification.

Under the impact of such schooling, the traditional family unit is no longer the bedrock of society. The norm tends toward single-parent units. Home-schooling by parents in traditional families is, to that style of moral relativism, a direct affront.

There is now abundant evidence, in all parts of the nation, that public-education students are inculcated with anti-Americanism and a moral relativism that will not even condemn the Nazi Holocaust. Liberal-progressivism teaches students that there are no real differences among nations, races, and cultures, even sexes. We are all homogeneous and ready for a single world government that will end wars and guarantee harmony and economic plenty, equally for all. In such a world, callow students must be conditioned to see every atrocity from the other guy’s view point and to avoid all judgments of right or wrong.

Liberal-progressives, it will be remembered, sympathized with Al Queda and blamed 9/11 on the capitalist greed of the United States.

The recent death of William F. Buckley, Jr. reminds us that, by the late 1940s, this disintegration of historical education was well established. Ivy League universities such as Yale had long since abandoned their founding mission of educating Puritan ministers. They had, as Buckley documented in “God and Man at Yale,” become overwhelmingly slanted toward liberal-progressivism.

Liberal-progressive-socialism is a world paradigm in which greedy capitalists become rich by grinding workers down to bare-subsistence levels of income, while forcing the workers to buy whatever products they produce, at whatever prices they elect to charge. Hence the endless harping in the New York Times about income inequality.

In that paradigm, social justice demands that the undeservedly rich capitalists be expropriated, either by seizing their property and placing it under collective ownership, or by imposing a multitude of regulations that convey the rights of ownership to the political state. This is known as socialization.

The most important element of liberal-progressive-socialism, however, is control of the educational system. Henri de Saint-Simon, who systematically conceptualized socialism in the first decades of the 19th century, wrote that the educational system must be controlled by the highest level of the political state’s intellectual councils, so that nothing other than the doctrine of socialism may be taught.

How has it come to this? Watch this:

A De-Evolution of Leadership - The Quiet Takeover of America

Leaders lead, tyrants rule and servants serve. When did we lose sight of the distinction?
